Tests for
The test is designed for people who want to diagnose the most common sexually transmitted infections, without looking into a diagnosis for the more serious blood-borne STIs, such as HIV. It’s useful if you are exhibiting symptoms affecting the genitals, including discharge, painful urination, or an itching or burning sensation affecting the urethra.
This test can take up to 3 days to gain accurate results once received by the lab. Your sample is sent by either courier or Royal Mail First Class and will usually arrive at the laboratory 24-48 hours following deposit. If you’d like to find out more about how long it takes to get an STD result from one of our profile tests, read our recent blog post.
Please be advised that this test will only offer the advised level of accuracy against all conditions at least 14 days after potential exposure. If you believe you came into contact sooner than 14 days, contact our customer services team who will explain the most effective testing option available to you, which could include our early detection testing options.
If you’re only interested in testing for the urine based infections then this test will be great for you, however, it doesn’t test for other common STDs such as HIV or syphilis. This test uses the same urine sample for all STD testing, so it is quick and efficient. If you want a complete picture of your sexual health then we recommend our Premium Profile, or our Comprehensive Profile test. Find out more about the sexual health tests we offer by contacting our customer services line.
For those of you looking to diagnose common STDs with a simple urine sample, book your urine profile test today. If you have any questions about the testing options, or have any questions, get in touch with our team.
Phlebotomy Station Procedure
You order a phlebotomy station test. A sample collection kit will then be sent to you by post. The sample kit can be dispatched to an address of choice or, if discretion is required, the order can be delivered to a post office for collection.
Upon receipt of the test, the patient is required to contact YSH to book their appointment. This can be done via email ([email protected]) or telephone (0161 660 2599).
Once the appointment is booked, you will receive a confirmation of appointment, including the full address of the clinic, with instructions.
If urine or swabs are required, these should be done prior to attending the clinic appointment. Only the blood sample will be taken in a clinic.
Photographic ID must be taken to the appointment and you must remember to take the sample collection kit with you.
Once the nurse has drawn blood, they will hand the sample back to you for posting. You need to take a photograph of the tracking label, before placing the sample kit in a post box.
Results will be uploaded to the online portal once available from the laboratory.
Clinic Procedure
By selecting a clinic urine profile STD test you’ll be assisted by a nurse or doctor at one of our comfortable clinics. We have over 100 clinics nationwide, located in all major cities. Most are accessible via main roads and public transport, with some even offering weekend and evening appointments. Find your nearest clinic here, or read about the testing process below:
To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.
Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.
The Profile 3 test only requires a urine sample. This will be deposited by you in a clinic toilet, with the nurse or doctor providing you with full instructions before you deposit the sample. For the test to be fully accurate you must catch the first stream of urine.
Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll notify you of your results using our online portal as soon as they’re reported by the laboratory.
Home Visit Procedure
For those of you who prioritise convenience or privacy, you may prefer our postal test kits. By choosing a home test we’ll post a discreet sample kit to your door for you to collect the sample in your own home, before returning it in a prepaid envelope. Detailed instructions will be provided with the kit, but here’s how the sample collection process works.
To book the Urine Profile home test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you will need to select the Postal Test option.
As soon as we receive your order the kit will be dispatched with all of the paperwork you’ll require. Our kits are sent by first class post unless you choose the Click & Collect option.
Your urine sample requires the first stream of urine to be collected. Fill the sample kit to the advised line and ensure that the lid is securely fastened.
We provide you with a return postage envelope that can be sent directly to our laboratory. Simply put the package in the post box and as soon as it’s received by the lab we will begin testing.
If you have any questions on the accuracy of home testing kits, read our recent blog post – ‘Are STI home testing kits reliable?’. In the blog we discuss whether home STI testing kits are reliable, how they work, how long it takes to receive your results and more.
