Peace of Mind Profile – Standard STD Test
The same test offered as standard at NHS Clinics with quicker test results turnaround, and minimal waiting room times
The Peace of Mind Profile test diagnoses the four most common STIs using a blood and urine sample. It’s the same test that is offered as standard on the NHS, but by booking with Your Sexual Health you can forget about busy clinic waiting rooms or long turnaround times. If you’re looking for a profile test with a quicker turnaround time, why not try our Instant Peace of Mind Test? With any test at Your Sexual Health, we keep your results completely confidential, and will only add the test to your NHS medical record if specifically asked by you. Tests for
This test is for anyone who has had unprotected sex with someone new and is yet to get tested. Many of the conditions that the Peace of Mind Profile tests for don’t show any symptoms and can therefore go diagnosed for years without regular testing. It should give you peace of mind against the most common STIs.
This test takes around 2 working days to gain accurate results once received by the lab. All samples are sent to the laboratory by either Royal Mail First Class Post or by courier.
This test offers accurate results 28 days following potential exposure. If you believe you’ve come into contact with any of the conditions more recently than 28 days, then you may benefit from our Early Detection tests which offer accurate results within 10 days. Find out more about the incubation period for many STDs in our recent blog post – ‘How long after sex do STD symptoms appear?’
This test only identifies the most common STDs meaning it’s useful as a quick check-up following a one night stand, but it won’t give you a comprehensive picture of your full sexual health status. There are many STDs not tested by the Peace of Mind Profile that you can still pass on to future sexual partners. We offer a range of testing options here at Your Sexual Health. If you are wanting to test for uncommon STDs alongside the ones offered in this test, try our Premium Profile, or the Comprehensive Profile.
Get tested for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis with one test. Book your standard sexual health screen with Your Sexual Health for lightning-quick turnaround times and accurate results. Choose from over 100+ clinics located across the UK, or a home testing kit for your convenience. Book your Peace of Mind Profile test using the ‘Book Now’ button.
Phlebotomy Station Procedure
You order a phlebotomy station test. A sample collection kit will then be sent to you by post. The sample kit can be dispatched to an address of choice or, if discretion is required, the order can be delivered to a post office for collection.
Upon receipt of the test, the patient is required to contact YSH to book their appointment. This can be done via email ([email protected]) or telephone (0161 660 2599).
Once the appointment is booked, you will receive a confirmation of appointment, including the full address of the clinic, with instructions.
If urine or swabs are required, these should be done prior to attending the clinic appointment. Only the blood sample will be taken in a clinic.
Photographic ID must be taken to the appointment and you must remember to take the sample collection kit with you.
Once the nurse has drawn blood, they will hand the sample back to you for posting. You need to take a photograph of the tracking label, before placing the sample kit in a post box.
Results will be uploaded to the online portal once available from the laboratory.
Clinic Procedure
By selecting a clinic test, you’ll be able to choose your preferred location, which can be easily accessed via main roads or public transport. View the procedure steps below.
To book this test, simply press the ‘Book Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.
Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.
The Peace of Mind Profile test requires a blood and urine sample to be tested. The blood sample is collected by a trained nurse or doctor at one of our clinics. They’ll take care of you and ensure you’re comfortable, but it will require the use of a needle.
The urine sample will be collected by you in a clinic toilet, with the nurse or doctor providing you with full instructions before you deposit the sample. For the test to be fully accurate you must catch the first stream of urine.
Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of everything else. To receive your results, you’ll get notified as soon as we have them either via our online portal or your other preferred contact method.
Home Visit Procedure
If you can’t get to a clinic for whatever reason but still need to be tested, you may prefer our home testing kits. By choosing a home test we’ll post a sample kit to your door for you to collect the sample in your own home, before returning it in a prepaid envelope. You will receive instructions on how to collect the sample inside the kit, but here’s how the process works;
To book this test, simply press the ‘Book Test’ button above. This button will take you to a new page, where you can either select a home test or clinic test, select the home testing option and place your order.
As soon as we receive your order the kit will be dispatched with all of the paperwork you’ll require. Our kits are sent by first class post unless you choose the Click & Collect option.
Your blood sample will be collected using a finger prick sample collection kit. Full instructions on how to collect your blood sample will be provided with the kit and it’s important you follow them closely for the most accurate results.
Your urine sample requires the first stream of urine to be collected. Fill the sample to the line and ensure the lid is securely fastened.
We provide you with a return postage envelope that can be sent directly to our laboratory. Simply put the package in the post box and as soon as it’s received by the lab we will begin testing. If you are unsure about the reliability of home testing kits, read our recent blog post where we discuss whether home STI testing kits are reliable, how they work, and how long it takes to receive your results.
