FAST Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea (Rectal Swab)

This test is for anyone who believes they may have come into contact with chlamydia or gonorrhoea as a result of unprotected anal sex. It’s also useful if you have symptoms in the anus that could be associated with anal sex.

Results for this test will usually be available within a day of being received by the laboratory. All of our samples are sent to the laboratory by either post or courier, usually taking 1-2 working days, depending on the time of your appointment.

This test offers accurate diagnosis 14 days after exposure to chlamydia or gonorrhoea. Testing before this time will likely result in incorrect results unless you’re exhibiting clear symptoms.

The Quick Turnaround 2 with Swab test requires a blood and urine sample. The blood sample is collected by a trained nurse or doctor. They’ll take care of you and ensure you’re comfortable, but it will require the use of a needle.

Your swab sample will usually be taken by a nurse or doctor at the clinic. It’s important that you follow their instructions carefully to ensure it’s taken correctly. They’ll then package it up and send it to the laboratory.
