Trichomonas Vaginalis
A test for if you believe you’ve been exposed to Trichomonas Vaginalis
Our Trichomonas Vaginalis test uses a urine sample to gain accurate results. Trichomonas Vaginalis is a bacteria that causes Trichomoniasis – a sexually transmitted infection affecting both men and women. Symptoms are similar to other sexually transmitted infections, including unusual discharge in women, pain whilst urinating or having sex, and soreness affecting the genital area. Testing is often required to diagnose the STD and it is not offered as standard on the NHS.

Clinic Procedure
By selecting a clinic test you’ll be assisted by a nurse or doctor in one of our sexual health clinics located across the country.
To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you can choose the best clinic for your needs.
Our clinics are all based in a discreet setting and because many of them are general health clinics, there’s no reason why anyone will know that you’re there for a sexual health screening. Just let the receptionist know who you are upon arrival.
The Trichomonas Vaginalis test only requires a urine sample. This will be deposited by you in a clinic toilet, with the nurse or doctor providing you with full instructions before you deposit the sample. For the test to be fully accurate, you must catch the first stream of urine.
Once you’ve deposited your sample, we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll notify you of your results using our online portal as soon as they’re reported by the laboratory.
Home Visit Procedure
By choosing a home test we’ll post a sample kit to your door for you to collect the sample in your own home, before returning it in a prepaid envelope. Detailed instructions will be provided with the kit, but here’s how the process works.
To book this test, simply press the ‘Select This Test’ button above. You’ll then be taken to our booking page where you will need to select the Postal Test option.
As soon as we receive your order the kit will be dispatched with all of the paperwork you’ll require. Our kits are sent by first class post unless you choose the Click & Collect option.
Your urine sample requires the first stream of urine to be collected. Fill the sample kit to the advised line and ensure that the lid is securely fastened.
We provide you with a return postage envelope that can be sent directly to our laboratory. Simply put the package in the post box and as soon as it’s received by the lab we will begin testing.
