We try to make our service as simple as possible, but we appreciate that getting an STD test can be a stressful time. We’ve answered some frequently asked questions below about our private sexual health clinics, but if you have any other questions you can contact us on 0161 504 7999 or by using the live chat function below.

Your Sexual Health offers a wide range of discreet and confidential tests against all common sexually transmitted infections. This includes tests against chlamydia, gonorrhoea, HIV and syphilis as well as many more. We have a range of blood tests, swab tests and urine tests with the sample requirements being different for each test. We have a number of different types of tests, including individual tests that can diagnose one or two conditions at a time or profile tests which can diagnose multiple. In addition, we also offer Instant Tests at some clinics which deliver results whilst you wait in the clinic in under half an hour. Once you arrive at the private sexual health clinic you’ll be seen by either a doctor or a nurse. If you require a blood sample you’ll be taken to a consulting room and they will draw blood. For urine samples you’ll be given a container and will be provided with instructions for use. Swab samples may be taken by the medical professional or by the patient depending on a number of factors. The sample will then be packaged up and sent by either courier or 1st Class post to our laboratory. If you’ve booked an instant test, we’ll take your samples for testing on our Instant Test Kit whilst you wait. Once your results come through you’ll be notified there and then.

Once you’ve booked your test at our private STD clinic we’ll contact you to confirm the time and date. We’ll also provide you with information on how to get to the clinic, including how to find it.  When you arrive, all you need to do is present yourself at the reception desk to let them know that you are there. You shouldn’t need to mention why you are there as the staff will be expecting you and are all briefed on the need to be discreet. A friendly nurse will take your blood sample and offer instructions on how to correctly collect a urine or swab sample. They will then package the sample up and send it to the laboratory for testing. At this point, you don’t need to do anything else. We’ll contact you as soon as we have your results and these will be communicated to you through our online portal.  

Unfortunately we’re unable to accept cash payments at most of our private GUM clinic locations and must take payment in advance either through the website or over the phone. If you have any concerns or issues about this, please contact us and we will try to resolve this for you in whatever way we can. The only clinic that we're able to take cash payments at is our Wythenshawe branch, which is also our head office.

The length of time it takes for you to receive your test results depends on the test that you have taken at our clinics. Some tests offer results straight away whilst others have up to a 2-3 day turnaround time. You can find out the turnaround times for each of our tests displayed on the main test page or the clinic pages themselves.

Although our private STI clinic network is growing (we have over 150+ locations UK-wide), there are a few areas that we don't yet serve. However, just because we don’t have a physical sexual health clinic location doesn’t mean that you can’t get tested. We offer a home visit service where we bring the nurse to you or we can send a postal test kit to an address of your choosing so that you can deposit the sample yourself before returning to our laboratory.
